Standards for all Locations |

·       No tight or sleeveless clothing.

·       Shorts, if allowed to be worn at all, must always come down to the knee.

·       Girls: skirts and dresses must come down to your ankles for many locations. Guys: there will be times when jeans will not be appropriate for the ministry you will be doing. Make sure to have pants (khakis, etc.) other than jeans.

·       Swimsuits, if worn at all, must be modest. Girls need to wear shorts with their one-pieces. Two-piece bathing suits are not allowed. Guys: trunks only.

·       Sleepwear must also meet dress code standards if the team is in an area where there is little privacy in sleeping areas.

·       There may be times when you are not allowed to wear open toed shoes, depending on where your group is working or ministering. This is for you safety. Girls: bring a pair of flats or tennis shoes that you could wear with a skirt in these instances.

·       In general, clothing should be neat. No rips, holes, or obvious stains, except for specific “work-days.”

·       At Training Camp, girls can wear MODEST sleeveless shirts. (*Note: If you have to ask if it is modest, it isn’t!*) These sleeveless shirts can only be worn for sleeping when you are overseas.

Ministry dress will vary in each location. In some locations, girls will be required to wear skirts for all ministry, and in some cases, all the time. In some locations shorts and pants are not allowed at all. Your leaders will let you know what is allowed for your location.

Why a Dress Code? |

·        The way we dress could hurt the testimony of Jesus Christ.

·        Some people see sleeveless tops, low necklines, and running shorts as immodest.

  • Sometimes even Christians value personal choice too highly, claiming the right to dress the way we choose regardless of how it could offend other people.

·        It is the missionary’s responsibility to conform to the field culture.

  • Sexual temptations affect us all – Christian or not. We don’t want to attract evil or assault by what we wear. Our clothing should be unquestionably modest.
